It sounds like most of your issues revolve around what the printers in Germany and Czechoslovakia expect of your PDF. Many european printers want PDF's submitted as PDF/X-3 standard, use that preset when outputting your files from InDesign. You may also consider leaving your files as RGB and letting your printers perform the color space conversion. (***Side note: if you are exporting a PDF/X1-a it will automatically convert RGB to CMYK, PDF/X-3 allows for all color spaces in the file***) - Read More at This Link..

Does anyone know what the best books are for people who are highly savvy when it comes to learning apps? A book that is not just for reference but takes you through actual projects. I am already using InDesign but need to train some other users and could use some support material. I have looked at Adobe InDesign by Elaine Betts and also Adobe InDesign CS3 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques - for a more reference based book. I am looking for a book that is geared toward someone who can learn the basics in a day - a production environment, where all the constants are important, colors, tra... - Read More at This Link..

I have been thrown into the woes of proper pdf creation.. Export as pdf, it changes CMYK to RGB. I cannot find the proper settings, if I change to export change to cmyk all the black type seperates. I have tried export as pdf and export as eps and ran through distiller. These are ads that made int pdf's and then placed on a page for newsprint output. I never had any problems with CS2, I wonder what has changed? All help would be greatly appreciated!! - Read More at This Link..

Mac OS X Forum :: RE: Printing Problems: InDesign MacIntosh(CS2) to Igen:
I feel your pain! We have the same problem with screens and the best advice I can give is find a CMYK equivalent and print that so you get less evident rough edges. They idea is to get CMYK running across the whole page where there is color. That way you never get halos (usually magenta are the worst) and it hides the rough screen. Also, don't use thin fonts. Trebuchet should be fine, but adding a 0.01 stroke in the font color could help some too. Pantone Spots or straight CMYK won't matter, it's just the way the IGEN is. good luck, Bob - Read More at This Link..

hello and welcome well it might not be a cs issue - is your rip up to date and ps level 3? you might want to make sure the rip is capable of dealing with tranparency stuff - just to rule it out. well transparency and rips is a major thing these days - postscript, as we all know, cannot understand/interpret it, so flattens/rasterizes into non - live files - which is a pita. anyhoo - take a look in the effects pallette (window>effects) and if there's anything with an "fx" next to it give it a double click and it should bring up the appropriate fx/effect dialogue box for that effect (if that makes sense) ... - Read More at This Link..

Using Rosetta does "fix" the problem. I still think we need to ask Adobe for a real fix of the problem . . . they won't offer Rosetta for that many more upgrades, and for those of us who do catalogs, this type of flaw could be a nightmare. Also, the latest minor upgrade to 5.0.1 doesn't address this. - Read More at This Link..

I've been dealing with this myself, and have submitted it to Adobe for a (hopeful) bug fix. It's the Intel Mac chip. If you print from any Mac with CS2, it works fine. If you print from CS3 a non-Intel Mac, it prints fine. But print from CS3 on an Intel Mac, and it's a problem. Hopefully, your shop has a few older machines that you can use to print only a few pages when you have corrections. Best of luck. Prepress Software :: Problems opening InDesignCS2 files with InDesignCS3
Hello! I used to work with InDesign CS2 and now I upgraded it to CS3 version. But now, with InDesign CS3, I am unable to open files done with CS2. While loading the file, the application closes unexpectedly, without showing any warning or error. It just disappears. Does someone have the same error? It there any way to fix it? Thank you. - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: Intel Mac and CS3 and PageFlow

Just joined, but have been using this site for information for years. I recently purchased CS3 for our departments only Intel Mac and have issues printing to our RIP from InDesign CS3. Specifically, printing separations to the RIP should give a "page 1" with all colors combined, I get, page 1 - cyan, page 1 - magenta, etc... Have not tried re-installing any software yet. We have other G5 (non intel) Macs that print fine from CS3. Mac- MacPro 1, 1; 2x2.66 Ghz; DuelCore G5 Intel Xeon; 2 gigs memory OS- 10.4.10 RIP- ArtPro; PCC PageFlow 1.7.19 Thanks for any help! - Read More..
