Digital Printing Forum :: RE: Problem with Xerox IGen3 printing solid black
C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100 Any kind of "rich black" will print grey as the IGEN lays down black toner first. Everything else gets laid down on top cyan- yellow-magenta - and will make the black lighter and muddy. We have also had good success creating R=0, G=0, B=0 photoshop files and used those as background images - and that has again created a great black. Considering the IGEN "optimizes" any CMYK value you give it, I believe that even c0m0y0k100 might change once on the press. I am sure the U.S. Sheetfed color setting for CMYK and the ADOBE RGB settings in InDesign have something to ... - Read More at This Link..

Digital Printing Forum :: RE: PrintShop Mail and Color Shifts on the iGen 110
color shifts on the IGEN. yeah we get that too, sometimes between edges of one sheet. congrats! you own an IGEN too. it has problems printing tints and gradients and full color with out a VERY hard pattern to break up the color. Generally if you give it an RGB image it convert it and print acurately - but cmyk and spot shift around all over. Do a test - in InDesign. set the IGEN and InDesign to us sheetfed or what ever you use. print a box with a pantone spot color a cmyk - us sheetfed conversion a IGEN conversion recipe of the pantone color. They will ALL print differently it's to... - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: RE: pdf's from Corel Draw
I use corel all the time. to get files into indesign, I save out as Illustrator 10. This export filter supports fonts. The newer ones convert fonts to outlines. Then open in Illustrator, CS to get a preview which will be visible in Indesign. Then place into indesign. I suspect that your problem is that since corel does not necessarily have a fully functional license to embed fonts, it does not. When you try to highlight the fonts in the pdf restrictions on the file prevent you from copying fonts. It seems to me, that PDF, Illustrator and EPS files are more or le... - Read More at This Link..

The proofs show the problem accurately. Not like the transparency lines in our old Brisque where they would show up on screen, then not show up on the plates, or vice versa. - Read More at This Link..

I've done it and haven't experienced any of the problems you stated. Granted, I have only done it a few times, and the color hasn't been critical, but everything ripped fine and output perfectly, as far as I could tell. Hope this helps. - Read More at This Link..

I was marking some of my second years' project the other day and I noticed a "sloppy" habit some of them have formed. Rather than saving their Illustrator files as EPS and placing them in InDesign, they are copying and pasting or dragging and dropping vector objects from one program to another. I realize that this has become one of the selling features of CS products, but it doesn't seem to make for good prepress production. In many cases, the elements they copied were no longer editable and colors even changed when imported using this method. I can't see why... - Read More at This Link..
