As a last-ditch resort, if you have no qualms about converting text to outlines, etc., take the file with conversions done and open in Illustrator, re-save as Illus .eps, and placed in InDesign to output or distill directly. If it still acts odd, down-save the Illus .eps to Postscript Level 2, and repeat. I have had Nexus and Rampage both error until I used Illus on .eps files and either placed-printed/exported, or directly RIPed the simplified file.
