Graphic Design Forum :: RE: Cut & paste from Illustrator to InDesign
Kind of along the same lines, I have seen issues with copy and paste from one indesign doc to another... the new doc would not separate properly. But if you "drag" the contents from one doc to the other it is fine. I have a suspicion it had something to do with the clipboard, we've learned our lesson though and I never copy and paste from one doc to another (unless of course it's just plain text) IMHO B - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: RE: about indesign ppd
Hi Jamina, I know this is a bit late but, If you create a pdf preset (job options) for indesign you can export to any version of pdf you like. Eliminate the postcript stage and go direct from Indesign. Postscript tends to flatten transparency , going direct to pdf 1.4 and up will preserve it. Cheers, Tom - Read More at This Link..

We impose hundreds of PDF files everyday in Indesign CS3. When finished we export the whole page as a PDF which goes to our RIP. During the exporting process some images simply jump out of their bounding boxes and ruin the job. I've contacted Adobe about this and they acknowledge there is a bug, does anybody know of a way we can stop this happening by changing say a PDF setting. Imposing in CS2 or Preps or Metrix fixes the issue but presently we are stuck with CS3 because it works with our own autoplater plater program. - Read More at This Link..

yeah - just like quack's error message - always change colours in the original file. dumm question - when you say you changed colours - how did u do it? did you "double click" the colour in the colour palette and simply change to "process" or did you use the ink manager and alias the colour? _ expertise: nothing - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: psd vs. tif, ai vs. eps
I teach graphic design at a college and want to give my students some prepress advice. Previously, I have told them not to import layered psd files into InDesign, but to save them as flattened TIFs before importing. I know in early versions of InDesign, PSDs with many layers would cause the file to take longer to rip. Now that InDesign has been refined and submitting PDFs is common, is it okay to use import psd files with layers? How about native AI files versus EPS? - Read More at This Link..

It might be the fonts that are installed on your machine. Try this. 1) change the fonts that you are having problem with to say Arial or Times. Just as a test, don't worry about re-flow on the page, just print. If the fonts are ok then you need to install the fonts onto the printer somehow. I use a Creo rip and is easy, not sure on your equipment. Try this next 2) select all your text boxes in your doument, go to TYPE>>>Create Outlines. Print now. If the fonts look good, then yes the fonts taht you are using need to be installed on your machine. Hope this helps - Read More at This Link..

Pre flight is already included in most page make up software like Adobe InDesign and Pagemaker; so there's no need to purchase it as a separate software. As wrightr2 stated, prefight can detect most problems but not all. What I would do is use something like PDF snake to reorder the pages. Make one file first and then reorder it 2, 1, 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 1 etc. Then bring that single pdf into indesign - Read More at This Link..

I am looking for a script to merge two PDFs in InDesign CS3 (Mac or PC); with an interesting twist for print production. We have one PDF that is 408 pages. The second PDF is only one page. What we need to accomplish is importing the 408-page PDF file into InDesign, then inserting the second 1-page 408 times PDF AFTER every page of the first file. This will make a 816-page file, where every other page is the "generic" PDF. I've used PDFplacer.jsx and it does a great job of bringing in a PDF to InDesign. Prepress Guru, This is my method to copy & patse from Ai to Id. With Text object : in Ai, use text tool to mark all needed text and copy (Ctrl+C) and switch to Id and then use text tool, click (or drag text area), paste it. The text now is text and I can re format it. If I use pick tool in Ai, the text converted to graphic when paste in Id, but it can change color in Id. With Graphic Object : use pick tool in Ai to pick and copy, switch to Id and paste it.
